Men's Ministry
For Piet Wilhelm, faith is not a destination—it's a journey of continued growth, community, and service. That journey led him to found Grapple Chapel: a unique men's ministry that combines biblical discipleship, authentic brotherhood, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The Personal Faith Story (Condensed)
Piet's path to Christ wasn't a straight line. As a child in international schools, he was exposed to Christian teachings. But it wasn't until after his military service—during a season of personal struggle—that he truly understood what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In his rock bottom moment, he discovered that his hardships, failures, and victories could serve a greater purpose: helping others find hope.
The Mentors Who Changed His Course
Two organizations shaped Piet's approach to men's ministry:
Mighty Oaks: A faith-based organization serving veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders. Piet became an advocate before attending himself. The experience provided tools, spiritual insight, and practical leadership principles that strengthened his ability to serve his community.
Band of Brothers: A ministry focused on helping all men (regardless of military background) grow spiritually through authentic relationships and accountability. This experience broadened Piet's understanding that many civilian men also struggle with purpose, leadership, faith, and relationships.
Grapple Chapel: A New Vision
After completing Band of Brothers, one of the founders invited Piet to host a group at Triton Fight Center. That conversation became the foundation for Grapple Chapel—a unique men's ministry that blends the discipleship emphasis of Mighty Oaks, the authentic brotherhood of Band of Brothers, and Piet's lifelong passion for martial arts.
