About Piet

Piet Wilhelm is a Marine veteran, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, entrepreneur, men's ministry leader, mentor, stunt performer, husband, and father whose life has been shaped by faith, service, discipline, and a passion for helping others succeed.

As the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm, Piet developed a strong sense of personal responsibility and perseverance from an early age. His journey has taken him around the world and through a variety of unique experiences, but a common thread has remained throughout his life: a commitment to continuous growth and serving others.

Piet's path of leadership began in military school before receiving an appointment to a United States Service Academy in 1994. Choosing a different path than many expected, he declined a potential officer commission and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in leadership and instructional roles throughout a distinguished military career. His service included assignments and deployments to Diego Garcia, Bahrain, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Albania, and Panama. During his time in uniform, he served as a Combat Instructor, Water Survival Instructor, Martial Arts Instructor, Drill Instructor, and Staff Non-Commissioned Officer responsible for preparing Marines for deployment to the Middle East.

After leaving the Marine Corps, Piet continued his commitment to developing others through martial arts. What began as a personal journey to overcome childhood bullying eventually evolved into a lifelong passion. Today, with more than three decades of martial arts training, he is recognized as one of the Midwest's most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors. He earned his black belt under Master Renato Tavares and has competed throughout the United States and internationally, earning multiple IBJJF Open Championship Gold Medals, an IBJJF Pan Championship Bronze Medal, and a U.S. National Championship medal.

As the founder and owner of Triton Fight Center, Piet has dedicated his career to helping individuals build confidence, resilience, discipline, and character. His academy has become a respected training center for martial arts practitioners throughout Oklahoma and has served as a launching point for numerous instructors, competitors, and academy owners. Through the academy's Local Heroes Program, Piet continues to support veterans, first responders, and law enforcement personnel as they navigate the challenges of service-related trauma, transition, and personal growth.

Faith is equally important in Piet's life. After experiencing personal struggles following his military service, he found renewed purpose through his relationship with Jesus Christ. His involvement with organizations such as Mighty Oaks and Band of Brothers ultimately led him to found Grapple Chapel, a men's ministry that combines biblical discipleship, authentic brotherhood, leadership development, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Through this ministry, Piet seeks to encourage men to become stronger leaders, husbands, fathers, and followers of Christ.

At the center of everything Piet does is his family. He and his wife, Sara, have built a Christ-centered home grounded in faith, love, service, and purpose. Together they operate Triton Fight Center and are raising their son, Noah, a varsity football kicker who continues to demonstrate the values of hard work, dedication, and integrity. Their home is also shared with three beloved dogs who provide plenty of laughter and companionship.

In recent years, Piet has expanded his interests into the world of film and television. A lifelong enthusiast of firearms, motorcycles, diving, and adventure, he discovered acting and stunt work through opportunities that naturally aligned with his military and martial arts background. As a SAG-E performer, he continues to pursue opportunities in both acting and stunt work while embracing the challenges of a new creative endeavor.

Whether on the mats, in ministry, mentoring veterans, supporting his family, or stepping onto a film set, Piet remains committed to living a life guided by faith, integrity, and service. His mission is simple: to help others discover their potential, overcome adversity, and build lives of purpose, strength, and lasting impact.
